This is our house. It sits on a hilltop, and you need to take a short driveway to get to the top.
The area between the road and our front yard is a pasture. This year we don’t have quite so many cattle, so this one has not been grazed all year. As a result, it turned into a prairie.
My kids quickly figured out that it’s a wonderful place to play – it’s like a jungle to them! They call it “playing in the tall grass.”
The big kids usually just come and play in here by themselves, but this time the baby and I came along.
Josie has turned a small section of this field into “a house” by bending down the grass in several places to create rooms and building a series of “bowers” to represent various pieces furniture – a lot like the bowerbirds of Australia.
This one I’m pretty sure is a chair.
Here’s how it works. Doesn’t it look cozy?
It’s a lot like building fairy houses.
Josie’s definitely the boss of her little pack.
Would you just look at those ringlets! They make my heart melt.
While the girls are dancing in fairy rings…
Cyrus is playing a separate game of his own…
He’s being a combine!
Just look at him go.
I couldn’t have asked for a better place to raise my family.
