After buying skeins of yarn at the store, I sometimes like to wind them by hand into a ball before starting a project.
I learned how to do it as a little girl, and I really love them.

I do that too! Honestly, it’s usually because I don’t want to root around in the basement for my swift, but once I’m in it, it’s wonderful. There’s something very zen and meditative about rolling a skein of yarn into a ball. It puts me into a sort of thought trance. I really need to go knit something now….
Hand-made product is often better, too, and I like not to have an extra tool around if I don’t need it. I don’t even have a dishwasher!
