The thing about a growing family is that you one day find yourself needing more of everything: more food at meal times, more closet space, additional beds and dressers, and so on. It goes without saying that new bedding is among those basic needs.
Because it can get quite cold here in Wisconsin, and because my firewood-heated home tends to cool down towards morning, quality comforters – and plenty of them – are at the top of my bedding needs, what’s with three kid and counting. With them in mind, warmth and durability are the two characteristics I look for the most. Of course, it doesn’t hurt if the bedding is also pretty, especially where my older girl and her suddenly-emerging aesthetic sensibilities are concerned.
Needless to say, I was beyond thrilled when Bedding Style contacted me about hosting this giveaway, for who couldn’t use some extra bedding? I certainly could, so I jumped at the opportunity to select something for my family and to offer my readers a chance to do the same. Here is how:

This striking Unikko Red comforter by Marimekko for her bed, which turned out to be wonderfully soft at 300 thread, as well as surprisingly light-weight for the warmth it provided – perfect for little ones!

Ever since I visited Sweden last year I’ve loved Marimekko stuff, so I immediately went and looked at the Marimekko section. I love the Pieni Unikko Red sheet set, but I think the Biloba duvet set would be more appropriate for our bedroom, as it’s a bit more subdued. (But I don’t want subdued! so really I like the red:-B)

I have always been a fan of Bed-In-Bag sets. It takes the guess work out of coordinating! So my favorite is the Steve Madden JULIET BIB set. Love it! So modern and gorgeous.

So much to choose from! Since I’m going to do my room in rich, jewel tones, I think “City Scene Branches Chocolate” will work nicely. I love the brights of the other choices, but I think this will balance my room nicely. Fingers crossed!!

My 14 year old daughter went wild over the “Steve Madden Ava” Because of her age and grades (ok mostly grades), this year we are giving her MY great-grandparents bedroom set. She gets to pick out bedding herself.

Marimekko Lumimarja Celery
I love the Marimekko prints. Hard to decide between Pieni Unikko Red, Pieni Unikko Blue and Lumimarja Celery.

The Tommy Hilfiger All American Denim is something I would never pick for myself, but I couldn’t think of anything better for my three year old son. Durable, cozy but something I could handle looking at daily (nothing with cartoon characters).
